I first became interested in fitness at age 15, trying everything from weightlifting to yoga to running.  I had been a student of fitness training and nutrition for 10 years, but always felt that something was missing.  And then I found CrossFit.  Not long after beginning CrossFit, I realized I wanted to share this incredible program with others and began teaching CrossFit to friends and family.  As a Coach, I have found my true passion for teaching others and helping them change their lives.

I have been a dancer since age 3. Movement has always been fascinating to me.  After high school, I continued my love for dance by earning a Bachelor’s degree in dance education and elementary education and a Master’s degree in special education. Teaching has always been my passion. Along with being an elementary school teacher, I have been a dance teacher for 9 years, teaching children the fundamentals of movement and exercise. I found my love for exercise at a very young age, but trying Crossfit was life changing for me. It wasn’t long after that when I realized that I wanted to share this program with everyone I knew and begin to help people change their lives.  I believe that CrossFit truly is for everyone and I will find the athlete in all of you!

I was first introduced to weightlifting through high school football and fell in love. For the next 10 years I was in and out of different gyms, often bringing my friends to experiment with new routines and methods. When I was introduced to CrossFit at Whaling City CrossFit four years ago, I fell in love all over again. This was a new brand of fitness, one that expanded beyond the scope of the typical gym. Since joining and becoming part of the coaching staff, I have had the privilege of witnessing first hand the results and achievements of our clients, physically and mentally, in and out of the gym. I love the positivity that working out brings to everyone who walks through our doors, and am eager to provide them with the skills and knowledge to make the most of it.

I’ve always been active. I’ve played sports my whole life and furthered my passion of sports by coaching a freshmen volleyball team for a few years. Coaching was a whole different experience and perspective for me and I loved it. I loved watching the progress of my players. It was invigorating to watch them improve every time they stepped on the court.
I was introduced to CrossFit in March, 2012 and have been hooked ever since. I always want to share my love of CrossFit and how to live a healthy lifestyle with others. CrossFit is for everyone, no matter what your fitness goals are and I will always do my best to help others achieve their goals!

August 22nd, 2012 I walked in the front door of Whaling City CrossFit searching for something new, and that is exactly what I had found. I was not following any strength and conditioning program and had not seen the inside of a gym for a good 5 years prior. CrossFit was a much needed breath of fresh air for me and at 35 years of age I was starting to show some decline in my overall fitness and I needed to turn things around. The challenges of the daily WOD’s combined with the new skills that I would acquire over the next few years would prove to be exactly what I would need to finally feel that I could still reach my fitness potential and maybe even compete for a couple more years in the process. In fact, I was so taken by what CrossFit had done for me that I wanted to pass it on to others through coaching. I have always loved coaching and with my daughter getting to an age where I would no longer be coaching her on the ice, I thought it would be a good time to accept a new challenge and take what I already know and adapt it into coaching CrossFit. It does not get any better than this, and boxes do not get any better than WCCF!

Fitness is so much more than achieving a desired physical appearance. I have been surrounded by fitness and athletics my entire life and have had the privilege to watch the transformation of an individual’s self image, confidence, and quality of life. I found CrossFit a short time after finishing up my college baseball career and instantly fell in love with the community. CrossFit is for everyone and that is what makes it beautiful. There is nothing more gratifying than being able to be a part of someone’s journey to a more active, healthy lifestyle.

I started CrossFit five years ago in a friend’s garage in Marion. I loved it…loved all of it; every WOD, all the new and different people and I couldn’t get enough of it. I had been pretty fit before starting CrossFit through running and taking regular group exercise classes at the Y. They were fun and kept me relatively fit until I got bored with them. CrossFit is the only exercise plan that has never been boring to me.It’s always different, varying from weightlifting to gymnastics to running and rowing. It’s all hard. Every time I go it’s different and challenging, which is highly appealing to me! I decided about 3 years in that I wanted to learn more about CrossFit and its teachings so I prepared for the L-1 and spent a weekend in Canton learning from the best. It was an awesome weekend and I loved learning so many aspects of the sport. I was an Athletic Training major in college so my knowledge of the body and how it works made the information relatively easy for me, but the way the coaches taught us to teach was what impressed me the most. I started coaching at Crossfit Bourne for about a year and really loved my crew over there and my first foray into coaching. I continue to train at Seaside Crossfit in Wareham but look forward to coaching and working out with the crew at WCCF! In real life I live in Marion with my husband Jay and our two boys James and Liam. I own and operate Flour Girls Baking Company based in Fairhaven.
